COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
Workshop 1 - Vivid Faces; Colorful Portraits & Expression - Friday, June 12: In this workshop, participants will explore essential elements of human features, including proper placement and proportion. We will examine how deliberate color selection can enhance emotion and personality in portraiture. Through structured exercises, students will develop observational skills necessary to accurately perceive and render facial features with genuine emotion and depth.
Workshop 2 - Liquid Light; Seascapes & Reflections - Friday, June 19: Drawing inspiration from Earth's beautiful water landscapes, this workshop will examine the fundamental components of seascapes and aquatic environments. Participants will develop techniques for capturing accurate and compelling reflections in their compositions. Students will learn to skillfully manipulate color and light to achieve vibrancy and realism.
Workshop 3 - Fur, Feathers & Personality; Animal Portraits - Friday, June 26: This workshop is designed for artists seeking to develop their skills in animal portraiture. Participants will focus on rendering pets and animals using vibrant color palettes and expressive techniques. The curriculum explores expressive and creative ways to depict various textures including fur and feathers, as well as distinct facial features and individual personality traits. Students will develop substantial skills in capturing the unique essence of their animal subjects.
Workshop 4 - Shine & Shadow: Painting the Reflective - Friday, July 10: Proficiency in still life rendering is essential for developing an artist's observational skills. This workshop will guide participants in discovering aesthetic qualities in everyday objects and accurately depicting reflective and lustrous surfaces. With concentrated focus on the interplay of light, shadow, and reflection, students will acquire fundamental knowledge and technical skills with lasting application.
Workshop 5 - Into the Wild; Dynamic Animal Painting - Friday, July 17: The world of wild animals is an endless exploration of texture, pattern, and expressions. This workshop will give students an opportunity to learn how to depict wild animals with energy and naturalism. Students will learn to construct animal forms using fundamental shapes before progressing to detailed features and expressive qualities, including techniques for capturing animals in motion.
Workshop 6 - Mood & Movement; Abstract Emotion in Color - Friday, July 24: This workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore non-representational artistic expression. Students will investigate how color theory, gestural techniques, and compositional strategies can effectively communicate emotion and energy. Through guided exercises and experimental approaches, participants will discover methods for using brushwork, layering, and strategic color application to create dynamic visual movement and express feelings beyond traditional representational constraints.
Workshop 7 - Urban Vibes; City Perspective Drawing - Friday, July 31: This workshop focuses on translating urban environments and architectural subjects into compelling drawings. Participants will study the fundamental principles of linear perspective necessary for accurately rendering cityscapes, buildings, and street scenes. The curriculum covers one-point and two-point perspective systems that enable artists to create convincing depth and dimension. Students will develop the technical proficiency to draw diverse urban settings with accuracy and confidence.
